From Brett Favre’s cleats to the flags of downtown Brentwood TN, it’s clear that the Pink movement is in full force this year. This display at the Maryland Farms YMCA, a hot spot for Brentwood TN residents and voted Best Gym by the Toast of Music City, offers patrons several ways to contribute to Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2009.
The YMCA placed a pink Cybex treadmill in its wellness center. Why? For each mile logged on this special pink treadmill, Cybex will donate 10 cents to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. All you Brentwood TN runners, be sure to avoid the rainy weather and head over to the Maryland Farms YMCA to log your “pink” miles!
In addition to the lovely pink treadmill, the Maryland Farms YMCA runs its own breast cancer rehabilitation program called ABC (After Breast Cancer). The program gives participants full access to the Y to receive the personal training necessary to regain full range of motion following surgical procedures. In additional to physical rehabilitation, participants receive nutritional counseling, access to regular educational seminars, as well as emotional support.
This Saturday, October 10, I will be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K in Maryland Farms. Click here to donate to the Proud Peackocks walking group, and enter my name, Linda Doyle. Thank you for all your support!
The Maryland Farms YMCA is conveniently located near the River Oaks, McGavock Farms, and Belle Rive neighborhoods. If you are thinking about relocating to Brentwood TN, be sure to check out my Brentwood TN neighborhood guide for some details on some of Brentwood’s fabulous Luxury Neighborhoods.
