Last Minute Halloween Decorations and Crafts

Brentwood TN is a fantastic place to celebrate Halloween. The foliage is beautiful and the air is crisp. Rain will clear out just in time for some trick-or-treating!  No Halloween plans yet? Definitely try visiting one of Nashville‘s spooky Haunted Houses or pumpkin patches.

Halloween is on a Saturday this year, for the first time since 1998! Make this Halloween memorable for your kids by planning a whole day of Halloween crafts and activities. For all you Last Minute Mavens, here are some simple and fun ideas to keep your children in Halloween spirit all day.

edible eyeballs

Edible Eyeballs from FamilyFun.com

1) Edible Eyeball Snacks: Make snack time healthy and fun with these eery eyeball treats
You’ll need: Carrots, Cream Cheese, Pitted Black Olives
What to do: slice carrots into 1″ chunks. Top with a dalop of cream cheese. Cut olives in half, place on top of cream cheese

halloween crafts

Mummy Bucket from About.com: Family Crafts

2) Mummy Candy Bucket: Get your kids excited to gather candy in these cute and creative buckets!
You’ll Need: White Felt, Green Felt*, Green Beach Pail*, Large Wiggle Eyes, Glue, Scissors
What to do: Cut 3″ strips of white felt. Wrap the felt around the pail and glue them into place. Leave a small opening on the front of the pail for the mummy’s eyes and nose to poke out. Cut a small circle out of green felt, and glue it onto the mummy’s face. Finally, glue wiggle eyes.*Green is suggested, but I think that any color will do, just try to match the felt for the nose with the color of the pail

ghost luminaries

Ghost Luminaries from the Mom Blog Network.com

3) Halloween Themed Luminaries: Have some empty milk jugs sitting in your recycle bin? Here’s a great way to light the way for your trick or treaters:
You’ll need: Clean milk jugs, Permanent Markers, Washable Markers, Craft Knife, White Holiday Lights
What to do: While the kids are snacking on some edible eyeballs, use the craft knife to cut holes in the bottom of the Milk Jugs to fit the lights into. Have your children use washable markers to trace their spooky faces onto the milk jugs. Once the outlines are set, use Permanent Markers to fill in the designs. Finally, Place holiday lights through the bottom of the jugs, Voila!
