The coffee table book that all Nashvillians need!

Nashville Then and Now: Makes a great gift for every true Nashvillian!

Nashville: Then and Now is a fantastic new coffee table book that everyone is raving about. (If you act quickly, there are a few in stock here at Amazon.com for a very reasonable price) Written by Karina McDaniel, the book gives a great, visual history of our fair city.

The introduction takes you on a journey through Nashville from the early 17th century, all the way to the 21st century. What makes this book fascinating is the way McDaniel juxtaposes brilliant photographs from back-in-the-day with photos from today.

Sites like Riverfront, which now hosts numerous concerts and grants access to the city via the Cumberland River, was once a vital shipping hub during the civil war. The photo (circa 1917) shows the port as strictly business, whereas the contemporary photo depicts a lovely tourist destination. In fact, the contemporary photograph even captures the General Jackson as it passes by during one of its day and evening entertainment cruises. Back in the times of the Civil War, the General Jackson was the first steamboat to use Nashville’s riverbank to connect to the Mississippi and Tennessee rivers.

Nashville’s rich history makes it a great place to visit, and an even better place to live!
